Our goal is to provide a unique, scientifically-based brand of sports medicine services to enhance our patients’ quality of life and to offer compassionate care to improve joint range of motion, functional strength, dynamic balance and neuromuscular coordination. We have a commitment to educating our community about the importance of nutritional, emotional, and spiritual health.
To put it simply, we care about getting the right care for you. We customize your treatment for your body and your situation, because we know that no two patients live the same lives. We offer treatments ranging anywhere from flexibility, post-op rehabilitation, and sports injuries.
Physical Therapy for Flexibility
Lack of activity can result in stiffness, and in our modern day world, this is all too common. A physical therapist will help measure your range of motion and assess the flexibility of your tissues. We use Active Isolated Stretching (AIS), a specialized method of stretching that works with the body’s natural physiological makeup to improve circulation and help increase the elasticity of muscle joints and fascia. AIS quickens the recovery process and also helps prevent recurrence of the injury. By combining therapy exercises with AIS we have found the rate of recovery is much faster. This combination allows more fluid movement with increased levels of strength and stability. Even if you haven’t suffered from an injury, and simply want to enhance your day to day flexibility, we can help.
Physical Therapy for Post-Op Rehab
We know that you live a busy life. That’s why we customize the rehabilitation process based on your specific needs, ensuring that you return to normal activity as quickly as possible. Our priority is to educate, decrease swelling, make sure tissue heals appropriately, and encourage weight-bearing activity as soon as possible. Physical therapy helps to speed up healing from surgery by improving the blood flow as well as providing endorphin boosting exercise. For optimal results, we also expect our patients to follow a home exercise and flexibility program. We provide education and training before and after surgery to give our patients the tools they need for optimal recovery and achieving their post-operative goals. These are some common post-op rehabilitation we work with on a daily basis:
- Knee and ankle ligament repair
- Hip and knee replacement
- Rotator cuff or labral repair
- Discectomy or fusions
- Carpal tunnel surgery
Physical Therapy for Sports Injuries
According to the National Institutes of Health, the most common sports injuries include sprains, strains, knee injuries, swollen muscles, shin splints, fractures, and dislocations. These injuries should be appropriately addressed in order to keep the athlete safe and able to continue doing their best. More often than not, coping with these sports injuries requires physical rehabilitation. Physical therapy helps people build back strength and movement in parts of their body after an injury occurs. Therapy can also help someone manage pain as well as prevent permanent damage and recurring problems. Our physical therapists are specially trained to help patients recover after having an injury. As part of physical therapy, they are able to teach exercises, stretches, and techniques using specialized equipment to specifically address problems.
